Music Tuition

I believe that anyone can learn how to play the piano very well. The prerequisites though are finding the best possible teacher, having a decent instrument, practising regularly (and not too much) and consistently, and most importantly, having a belief that you can do it!

For young musicians, it is vital that they get the right kind of training from the very start, so that they develop good habits and practice techniques. For adult learners, one of my aims is to help develop confidence in their own abilities, and to remove any negative preconceptions they have about starting or continuing piano at an older age.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me for lessons, tutorials, advice or with any other musical queries.

Piano

Piano lessons follow the graded format set out by the Associated Board, Trinity College London or the Royal Irish Academy of Music from Preparatory Level to Grade 8. But you can also simply learn for your own pleasure.

Music Theory

While piano lessons include a certain amount of theory, I also offer pure music theory lessons, preparing students for graded exams in this subject. Grinds in Leaving Certificate music are also available.

Musicianship

Musicianship covers a broad and complex range of skills, but can be summarised as a musician’s ability to respond quickly and intelligently to musical challenges. These skills include improvising at the keyboard, playing by ear, sight-reading, and much more.
